WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday aimed at expanding regenerative agriculture, directing federal agencies to increase research into farming practices, chemical exposures and their potential effects on human health as part of his administration’s Make America Healthy Again agenda. The order, titled Advancing Regenerative Agriculture and Strengthening American Farm Resilience, instructs the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency to strengthen research, innovation and public-private partnerships focused on regenerative farming practices. Kennedy said the order reflects Trump’s commitment to working with farmers while expanding research into the connections between agricultural practices, nutrition, environmental exposures and human health. Under the executive order, HHS, USDA and the EPA will develop a research and evaluation framework to better understand cumulative chemical exposures in the food supply using new scientific approaches. The executive order is part of a broader push by the Trump administration to bolster U.S. agriculture.
